Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Overview

FHC is currently hiring for Primary Care Nursing positions.  A successful candidate will experience a fast paced work day, a varied clientele and a supportive team environment. Examples of work responsibilities in this position include:   

  • Documents patient history and assesses chief complaints. 
  • Reviews charts and makes entries.
  • Prepares patient and room for appropriate examination procedures. 
  • Assists providers with exams and procedures.
  • Administers medications, injections, immunizations and venipunctures as ordered by physician.
  • Handles all abnormal and normal lab test results according to protocol.
  • Provides individual and group health education instruction and information.
  • Provides appropriate patient care based on age appropriate growth and development principles.
  • Assists in triage, handles patient inquiries, schedules appointments and assesses patient complaints via telephone and recommends appropriate action according to prescribed protocol.
  • Performs nursing assessments and develops health care plans for patients.
  • Performs basic laboratory procedures.
  • Makes referrals to the RN, supervisor, physician, or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner for situations requiring further intervention.
  • Cleans, stocks and orders supplies for the examination rooms. 
  • Adheres to universal precautions. 
  • Cleans and wraps instruments for sterilization.

Job Requirements

Possession of a current LPN license issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing, or possession of a work permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Kentucky by endorsement.
