About

After over 20 years in the social work field, focused first on foster care and adoption, and later on, various grant-funded service-oriented research projects, I was offered the opportunity to shift gears. For the past eight years, I have worked as a program coordinator and mental health therapist at Survivors of Torture Services, Family Health Centers Americana (formerly Survivors of Torture Recovery Center). Through this work, I have found a new passion. Working with refugees and immigrants, learning about their homelands and cultures and witnessing both their suffering and their resilience is an honor and a privilege. In my free time, I enjoy walks, movies, books (fictional for maximum escape), and time with family. I love animals (with dogs being at the top of the list) and the outdoors.
